The Friends of Hertingfordbury Cowper Primary School

Hello, and welcome!

The Friends of Hertingfordbury Cowper Primary School have two main aims: to support the school by raising funds for various items and projects, and also to bring together the families and friends of the school by organising various events and activities. As a parent of a child at the school, you are automatically a "Friend".

We publish a newsletter - Cowper Courier - every half term to keep everyone up to date with what is happening and to give information of current and forthcoming events, money raised and ongoing activities.

Every year we hold a Summer Fete, Firework Night, Christmas Bazaar and School Disco.  We also hold Quiz Nights and sell Easter puddings which are specially labelled for the school.  We also hold Kids on the Catwalk Children's Fashion Shows during the year, during which the school children model the clothes available to buy.

Last Christmas the children were busy creating their own designs which could then be transferred onto coasters, mousemats and placements to name a few.  These were then available for the parents to order.  We also sold Christmas puddings which again are specially labelled for the school.  Finally, we continued supporting Operation Christmas Child, a charity that sends shoe boxes of small items to children throughout the world who otherwise would not get a Christmas present.

With the money raised we have been able to buy an outside classroom for all the pupils to use, a new outdoor table tennis table, a volleyball net and posts, outfits for the Country Dancing team, a piano and hand bells, camera equipment, 5 new laptops, various items for the Early Years and new reading books.  We are also helping with a new garden project, whereby children in the Early Years will be growing vegetables which will then be used for school meals.  We also helped the School Council to purchase a bin for the field.

We also run a thrift shop whereby parents can buy school uniform.

If you would like to get involved in helping with our events and activities, please contact any member of the Committee.  We are always grateful of any offers of help no matter how small!  We can be contacted via a pigeon hole in the school office or please find us in the playground either before or after school.
