Our Curriculum
At Hertingfordbury Cowper C of E (VA) Primary School, we teach a rich, broad and balanced curriculum covering a range of subjects as specified in the National Curriculum.
Our core subjects are English, Mathematics, Science and Computing.
The Foundation Subjects are Religious Education, History, Geography, Music, Physical Education, Art and Design, Design and Technology, Personal, Social, and Health Education and French (from Key Stage 2).
We have developed a skills and knowledge based curriculum which has clear progression across the year groups and key stages. Through this, we develop a love of learning and ensure each child reaches their full potential. We work hard to enrich the children’s learning experiences through making cross-curricular links, drama, outdoor learning and offering educational trips and visits, as well as a range of extra-curricular clubs.
‘Wow’ moments, learning experiences and photographs of children's own work are shared via our online platforms, ‘Tapestry’ for the Early Years and ‘Seesaw’ for Key Stages 1 and 2. This encourages the home-school partnership that we value greatly at Hertingfordbury Cowper.
