Design and Technology
At Hertingfordbury Cowper C of E (VA) Primary School our Design and Technology curriculum is broad and engaging. Children gain knowledge about structures, mechanisms, textiles and cooking and nutrition in a developmental and progressive way. We also strive to link our knowledge gained to other subject areas, which further strengthens our understanding in all curriculum areas and enables all our learners to know more and to remember more.
Our curriculum is based on the National Curriculum and is designed to develop knowledge and skills in order to enable all children to design, make and evaluate at an ever-deepening level as they progress through the curriculum. This enables them to generate and communicate ideas in an ethos underpinned by resilience, creative thinking and problem solving. It teaches and enables our children to work both collaboratively on a project or independently.
Our Design and Technology curriculum is achieved through inclusive quality first teaching - which is adapted where needs arise, up to date resources and practical lessons. It embeds life skills and knowledge, that can be applied to many future scenarios and life experiences.
