Hertingfordbury Cowper C of E (VA) Primary School

Rooted in Jesus, Growing in Wisdom, Overflowing with Thankfulness
Colossians 2:7

Welcome to Hertingfordbury Cowper Primary School.

We hope that you enjoy your visit to our website and that it will give you a glimpse of life at our school.

We are a one form entry nursery and primary school situated between Hertford and Welwyn Garden City in the village of Birch Green. An ambitious building programme over the last few years has seen a beautiful Victorian building enhanced with a fantastic new hall complex, a newly refurbished glass domed indoor swimming pool and other modernisations.  These buildings are surrounded by beautiful grounds including a woodland area and pond which in themselves provide a rich learning environment for the children.

As a church school we work together to share God's love with one another; our Christian ethos and values underpin all that we do.  We marvel at God's creation with a sense of awe and wonder, we care for and encourage one another and together we aim high and learn to be the people that God wants us to be. We were delighted to be awarded the grade of outstanding in our church SIAMS inspection in 2016.

We try to create rich learning experiences through a project based creative curriculum and develop a love of learning and a confidence that will equip children to take on new challenges in our ever-changing world. We encourage children to lead a fit and healthy life through a wide and varied range of physical activities both in and out of school time and participate in the many sporting competitions that the school enters. We have a strong music tradition where every child learns to play a musical instrument and has the opportunity to play in the orchestra, join the choir or explore the rhythms of the vibrant steel pans.

We are excited about our school and would love to show you our school in action; we hope that you will come and visit us.
